Cayuga Onondaga BOCES

We met at the Cayuga Onondaga BOCES facility in May 2008 to discuss our community building. The BOCES students will be assisting us in the construction of our building with heavy equipment work, electrical work, education and awareness.
The desire of the BOCES Administration is that their students learn how to construct a sustainable building such as the one they currently occupy. We appreciate this collaboration and believe it will benefit the students and create greater awareness of sustainability and this type of partnership.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority

We applied to the NYSERDA Green Building Program for assistance with the energy components of our project and to consider to build our building according to LEED guidelines and attempt to achieve LEED certification designation. The guidelines and commitments documented during the charrette in May 2008 resulted in a sustainable LEED Certified Gold building. With the purchase of used greenhouses that we recycled, we may reach the LEED Platinum level. External Link: http://www.nyserda.org/

Town of Aurelius

We gave a presentation to the Town of Aurelius Town Board. Our project was referred to Jerry Scouten, Chairperson of the Aurelius Planning Board. Aurelius is interested in this project and the board appears willing to work with us in a mutually cooperative manner. Out of approximately seven current LEED Certified sustainable buildings in all of New York State, there will be two in the Town of Aurelius.

Caster Well Drilling

We have water from a well drilled by Caster Well Drilling who drilled the well next door twenty years ago. Our water source is 90 feet deep. The temperature of the water is 55 degrees F, which will be an advantage for the Geothermal Heating and Cooling System.
